The Whedonverse

Three icons of the Whedonverse, Georges Jeanty, Summer Glau, and James Marsters will be attending Paradise City Comic Con! Georges has worked on Joss Whedon projects such as Dark Horse Comics’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity and Firefly! Summer Glau is best known for her role as River Tam in Joss Whedon’s Firefly and its sequel Serenity. James Marsters is best known for his iconic role as the vampire Spike in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer televison series and its sequel, Angel.


Georges Jeanty is a 20 year vet of the four color medium has enjoyed a successful career at Marvel drawing such titles as Bishop the Last X Man, Weapon X, Deadpool, Gambit and Wolverine among others. As well as making a mark for himself at DC Comics with Green Lantern, Superboy, and Superman to name a few. Moving over to Image comics, Georges did a brief run on the Majestic and was co-creator of the critically acclaimed 8 issue series the American Way with Oscar winner John Ridley. It wasn’t until making the move to Dark Horse Comics that Georges enjoyed his greatest success, landing the title of the Eisner award winning Buffy the Vampire Slayer Joss Whedon creation with Seasons 8 and 9 of that show’s legacy. Joss then asked Georges if he had any interest in tackling his other wildly popular franchise Firefly. An original adaption of the series immediately following the film entitled Serenity: Leaves On The Wind. He smartly signed on! Currently, Georges is working on his return to Serenity with iZombie creator Chris Roberson. The six issue mini-series called ‘Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse’ will debut in October 2016.

Summer Glau

Summer Glau is a prima ballerina and actress, best known for for her iconic roles as River Tam in Joss Whedon’s TV series Firefly and the feature film, Serenity and Cameron Philips in Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She has recently had a featured role on The CW’s Arrow as Isabel (Ravager). Summer got her start in Joss Whedon’s much acclaimed TV series Angel playing a cursed Prima Ballerina in the 2002 episode “Waiting in the wings”. Contributing to her Sci Fi credits were roles in USA’s The 4400 as Tess, Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse as Echo’s long lost nemesis, Bennet Halverson, NBC’s The Cape as Orwell, an investigative blogger who teams up with Vince/The Cape in order to fight crime and restore justice, and guest appearances on Alphas as Skylar. Summer has also starred in the the films Deadly Honeymoon, and The Legend of Hells Gate: An America Conspiracy. She has made guest appearances on TV in The Big Bang Theory, Chuck, Hawaii 5-0, and NTSF:SD:SUV.


James Marsters is best known for his roles as Spike in “Buffy the Vampire” and “Angel”, Brainiac in the Superman-inspired “Smallville”, and as Captain John Hart in the Doctor Who spin-off series “Torchwood”. Some of his other roles include Barnabas Greeley in Syfy’s “Caprica”, Piccolo Daimao in the live action film “Dragonball Evolution”, Buzz Aldrin in “Moonshoot”, John McCarthy in “P.S I Love You”, Victor Hesse in “Hawaii Five-0,” and the voice of Lex Luthor in “Superman: Doomsday.” Marsters is also known for his singing and songwriting. Besides his “Rest in Peace” showcased in the Buffy special “Once More With Feeling”, he has three music albums out: Civilized Man, Like a Waterfall, and Murphy’s Law. Marsters is also known in the literary circle for his complete audio narration of The Dresden Files book series by Jim Butcher. You can also catch Marster’s guest appearances in “Supernatural,” “House on Haunted Hill,” “Andromeda,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” ”Numb3rs,” “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated,” “Ultimate Spider-Man,” and “Witches of East End.”
